Cell Structures and Functions
Structure of a cell: structure of a cell has to do with the different size and appearance of a cell; some could consist of a single cell which is also known as unicellular while others could be known for their multi-cell which can also be referred to as multicellular. Example of unicellular cells are protozoa and bacteria, also for multicellular we have plants and animals. Cell membrane is part of the cell structure that allows certain material to flow in and out of the cell and also protects the cell‘s content from external dangers and inside this same cell membrane we have cytoplasm which structure is in the form of a “watery jellylike substance”
Functions of a cell: cells carries out different functions in the body of living organism. For instance in human, there are lot of cells in the body of human and these cells (nerve cell, blood cell, skin cell etc.) carry out specific duties like movement, growth, reproduction, cell maintenance and manufacture of specialized substance. A plant cell can easily be classified under eukaryotic cells because they have within them a nucleus. The diagram below gives us a clear picture of what consist in a plant cell.
Note that all cells have genetic materials so in bacterial the genetic material of a single molecule is suspended in the cytoplasm which makes it prokaryotes.
